Book Review 1: Haunted Castle on Hallow’s Eve
Book: Haunted Castle on Hallow’s Eve
Author: Mary Pope Osborne
Publisher: Random House
Haunted Castle on Hallow’s Eve is one of my favorite books in the Magic Tree House series. Magic tree house series is about Jack and Annie’s adventure. It all started when Jack and Annie found a tree house in the forest. They used the tree house to go anywhere they want by pointing at a book and said: “I wish to go there,” and then the tree house started to spin. When it stopped they were there. Haunted Castle on Hallow’s Eve is about a boy who wanted to become a baby raven because he wanted to fly. He tried using a spell from the ice wizard but his spell failed and he became a half raven half boy creature. He wanted to steal the diamond of destiny so he could become a real raven. Jack, Annie and their friend Teddy went into a haunted castle to find the diamond that belongs to Merlin, a wizard. They found a ghost dog, a ghost girl and a ghost boy. The ghosts told them that the diamond was stolen by the boy who was now known as the raven King.
Jack, Annie and Teddy use their magic wand to turn themselves into ravens to fly to the raven king’s nest. Jack and Annie managed to take back the diamond and came back to the haunted castle. Suddenly, the raven king came into the castle and asked who stole the diamond. They lied they didn’t know about the diamond. They spotted a cage on the raven’s hand, it was Teddy. A raven took their wand away and wanted to give it to the king. It was the raven the Annie had saved on the way to the haunted castle. Annie called out to the raven and the raven gave it back to Annie. She made the raven king into a baby raven and saved Teddy. Soon they waved goodbye to Teddy and used the magic tree to go back home.
I like this book because it is not too scary and it is interesting for me to read on. I like the part where they found the ghosts and the part the raven found them. My heart pounded as the raven almost took their wand. At the end, they always come home. When I finished reading the book, I always think back Jack and Annie’s interesting adventure in the book. I wish I can be like them and experience their adventure myself too.
